From ESPN.COM-
Reyes, in the lead for the National League batting crown, delivered a bunt single to lead off the bottom of the first inning of the Mets' 3-0 win over the Reds. He then was pulled as New York Mets manager Terry Collins adhered to the shortstop's request to be removed if he singled. Some fans booed after realizing Collins had sent Justin Turner to pinch-run for Reyes.
Reyes' strategy paid dividends, as Milwaukee's Ryan Braun went 0-for-4 to finish at .332, five points behind Reyes' .337. Reyes becomes the first player in Mets history to win a batting title, finishing the season with 181 hits in 537 at-bats
Now many have called Reyes strategic move to get himself pulled out of the game after his first hit "bush league". Others have referred to it as an act of "douchery" <looking at you Da Man>. I myself think it was a smart move. Why jeopardize the batting title on a meaningless game? I mean what else do us Mets fan's have to look forward to? The Yankees are going to the playoffs, the Mets owners are gonna owe over $360 million cause of the Madoff fallout, Reyes will be on another team next year, I mean KAMAN!!!!!!!!! We need something. Those who are criticizing are the same people who probably want to take away social security from the seniors. Comment as you see fit.....
