This is an update from a previous post about my previous post
All the red remarks are my (J-Rod's) conclusions of Da Man's previous comments.
1. The Giants Pass Def: The "unstoppable" "explosive" "juggernaut" pass D is ranked 29th out of 32 teams. But look at the last couple of games, the Giants look like they are running through offensive linemen!! Looks are deceiving so lets go inside the numbers. They are ranked 29th giving up 255.1 y/g. Maybe the D was much aligned in the early-middle part of the season. So how bout in the last 5 games? They've given up, 369, 321, 185, 258, 289 yards in the last 5. That's 284.4 y/g, 29 y/g higher!
Conclusion: The Giants D gave up 247 TOTAL yards against ATL
Are they getting to the QBs of late? Sure, they got to Rex Grossman, Mark Sanchez and Tony Romo (with a swollen hand). Yes, they got to those guys. But whats the point of getting to the QB on 1st down only to give up a 30yd pass on 2nd?
On the flip side, Matt Ryan has thrown no INTs in his last 4, correct. But Ryan has also thrown for a shade under 300 yards in the last 5* (*Matt played very little in the 1st half as the Falcons went up 42-0, so the number reflect 4 of the last 5 games). So a QB coming in averaging just under 300yds against a team giving up just under 300 yds and a key matchup is the pass rush? Huh?
Conclusion: Matt Ryan passed for 199 yards against the Giants last night (4.9 yard per reception)
2. Juilo Jones: He wasn't mentioned as a key matchup. Why? Because J-Rod has no idea who he is.
Conclusion: J. Jones was irrelevant. 7 receptions for 64 yards
Now, my personal take:
How can you vault your Def AND say it'll be a shootout in the same post?? SMH
Conclusion: Da Man was correct. This was not a shoot out. Final score Giants 24 ATL 2
