The Hangover Pt 3

It's one of the worst feelings ever. Indulging on too much of a good thing then having to pay the price once we awake the next day. The groggy disoriented feeling like someone or something has knocked you around and left you in a complete disarray.

We general associate a hangover with alcohol but is it possible for it to occur outside the "nightlife"? Say to a sports team....?

Let me introduce to you the San Francisco 49ers.

"KAMAN, what the hell is this post about? WTF is Da Man talking about?!?"

Our top notch stats team here on the show provided me with a such a gem of a stats nugget it's almost too good to be true. Observe, The Hangover Effect...

The 49ers this season are on a unprecedented run considering for almost the last decade this team has been dormant laying waste in the awful NFC West.  While others saw dormant, I saw a rebuilding of young talent.  The 9ers do a couple of things well and it starts with DEFENSE. 1st in the NFL in opp rushing yards, 7th overall in defense. And on offense, 7th in rushing yds. Simply put, the 49ers get after the ball on D and pound you with the run on O (there's gotta be a pause somewhere in that statement).  We wear teams out with our big D (and there it is). Wear them out so much to the point that AFTER playing the 49ers, teams tend to "falter" for a bit.

"Preposterous!"

Let's go inside the numbers...  The 9ers are 9-2. Out of those 9 teams 8 of them "faltered"

W1 SEA - lost 3 of the next 5 gms (I get it, its the Seahawks. Next)
W3 PHI - lost 3 of the next 5 gms (waaaay before the "collapse" but they suck still right?**)
W4 TB - lost 4 of the next 5 gms (came in, 3-1)
W5 DET - lost 3 of the next 5 gms  (came in 5-0)
W6 CLE - lost 3 of the next 4 gms (came in .500 team)
W7 WAS - lost 2 of the next 3 gams (this beat beat the Giants, W1. Speaking of...)
W8 NYG - lost the next 2 games (came in 6-2. **AND lost to PHI??)
W9 ARI - only one game played so far (a W, but they do play DAL, SF respectively)

Only the Bengals posted a winning record in the next few games AFTER playing the 49ers.

But Da Man, what does it all mean??

Honestly, it all means nothing. LOL. It's just a fun stat. Unless.... you're a Giants fan. A closer look at the wins and losses of all the teams above, they all got a W in a least one of the 3 following games. The Giants already took an inexplicable loss to PHI and got ramnooddled (thanks Riley) by the Saints. And just whom do the G-Men play this weekend, the 11-0 Packers. So if it all holds true, the Giants will be giving the Pack their first loss of the season.

"Yea, no way. Not gonna happen. Have you SEEN the Giants pass rush??"

I have. And, LOCK IT IN folks the New York Football Giants will beat the Packers on Sunday.

More on this LOCK to come....

  1. I wasnt gonna say anything but now I gotta. The Ravens proved the falseness that is the 49er team. Bum team in a bum division that will waste a playoff spot. SMDH
